George Orthopoulos, MD, Ph.D.

Dr. Orthopoulos is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive robotic surgery and laparoscopic techniques at Winchester Hospital. He attended the University of Athens Medical School where he also obtained his PhD in Immunology. After his fellowship training at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate, Dr. Orthopoulos joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Surgery. His clinical interests include bariatrics, hernia repairs, foregut and abdominal procedures. Dr. Orthopoulos is also actively involved in research. He has authored many articles and presented research projects at national and international conferences. He believes in individualized care for each patient providing quality care and surgical excellence.

Dr. Orthopoulos is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a committee member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
